CGI cloaking

Hi
My boss absolutely want to use a CGI script for cloaking our index pages for the search engine. (We have just image on it).
I've never heard about that before, but i'm not sure that it will be a good thing for our positionment (and for my ethics...)
Can you think that this kind of script works and how the search engine accept it.

Who needs a cloaking script if you know how to make a good web page !!

Just make a normal page...with the text you like.
Use a software tool to check your keyword density...and optimize it
on the words you find important...

submit it and work on your links to this page...
(on websites that are also listed)

regards, hans

You don't want to do that. Eventually, the search engines will figure you out and you'll be worse off than if you just made it rank highly using legitimate means.

Yeah - convince your boss otherwise. Cloaking was a hot topic a few months back. If you still get out-voted around the table and they choose to go forward with cloaking, make sure that you use a proper service that can detect all the IPs, users agents etc..

Im not sure if you can hide it completely darrin, since competitors will
analyze a top 1 page.....(i know many SEO do....)

The cloaking page will give for sure totally different results then
the page that normal visitors do see....

Especially when a SEO did optimize various pages for google and did
check the rankings from those pages later, a cloaking page might be discovered sooner then they thought.
