Centering a table vertically & horizontally

Please help...I need to know if there is a way to position a table to be centered vertically and horizontally in any browser for any screen resolution. I have a table that must be 740 wide and it looks great on 800x600...but when at 1020x840 or whatever...there is tons of space on both sides and at the bottom.

MY goal is to find a way that it would be centered no matter what resolution the screen was at.

Any help much appreciated!!!

You can make one table that is 100% width border=0 then have one cell in it that is: td align=center. Then just put your table inside of that. That will fix the Horizontal centering, the verticle you may be able to add valign=center to the td and have the height=100% (this would be in the parent table which may not work in some browsers). Give it a try though.

in other words you want a fluid design...

the easiest way (without using css) is a table that is 100% x 100% call that table container, so then another table inside the container table that is 740px but it won't be fluid so you will have to make it 90% or 95% etc, make it's height 90% or 95% etc..

easy!

Much better of course to ditch the tables all together and use CSS.

http://www.allmyfaqs.com/faq.pl?Tableless_layouts is a good place to start.
