In 2014, I used majestic seo to scrape off all of my backlinks for the purpose of disavowing poor links. The google webmaster tool and this tool brought similar results but then there were also a lot of links that were listed by the Google web tool and not on majestic seo and vice versa.

    hahaha

is everyone missing the point. They said they gather trust by internal linking. That means that as long as my site links to me, I'm a trusworthy site.

And I'm massively suspicious of backlink tools. With my current ability it would take 2000 computers a year or more to crawl the internet for links. Where do you get your data from? I somehow doubt you had the backing that google would have had to set up google. And they ran away with it when I was in school. There's simply no way you could compete. If you could set up a backlink tool you could run a search engine, why not compete with google. Basically you must have a very simplified version of a crawl, I bet you do have a clever algorithm wedged in there. But I bet thats all there is to it.

    Just saw QualityCarpets post....

Majestic has somewhat more power than that. Your mistrust is fine, but you should probably look us up in your raw log files before saying
    hahaha
Last night we won the US Search Award for innovation in SEO.
Last year we were ranked 17 in the Deloitte Fast 50 fastest growing tech companies in the UK (Our accounts are also audited by Deloitte)
Every day we crawl well over 5 Billion URLs. You can see our progress daily at Majestic-12 : DSearch : Stats
We have been crawling for over 10 years and at the time of looking, we have crawled 3,999,472,513,426 URLs (so thanks for bringing it up... about to hit the 4 trillion mark).
We do not crawl as much as Google or Bing, but probably as much as Baidu and Yandex.

If you could set up a backlink tool you could run a search engine
Yes. We could. Actually we did in 2013: https://blog.majestic.com/developmen...arch-explorer/ but not to compete with Google.

We are extremely proud of what we have built. Feel free to attend one of the very many conferences Majestic sponsors each year and have a live demo. https://blog.majestic.com/events/ or at least be courteous please.
