Voting Buttons

What do the vote for and vote against buttons actually do?
Is Google using this information in any way and is there a way to see voting results?

Thanks

No idea, i never used them i have not enabled them on my G Toolbar.

Dan

p.s. this isn't another way to get higher is SERPs? Thats why Google sucks...it has too much to calculate!!! It may save the fact that you like this site somewhere in toolbar config and make it jump a few places in SERPs.

Voting buttons: If you especially like or dislike a web page you're visiting and want to share your opinion with Google, you can vote thumbs up by clicking the happy face or thumbs down by clicking the unhappy face. These buttons can also be used to report especially useful or unsatisfactory results after searching with Google. Just click the appropriate button while you're still on the results page. This feature is currently in test mode, so you will not notice any immediate effects based on your action, other than experiencing a warm sense of satisfaction from having shared your feelings with people who really do care.

I thought it was more like share your feelings with people who dont give a ****...

I think this is a good idea, as long as they've done their homework ahead of time to limit # of votes, only count votes once per page per user, etc...I think they already have a framework to work from with adwords, to help identify fraudulent clicks etc. Frankly I never saw it, or didn't know what it was about. It would only work on a grand scale, that is hopefully a site would not be adjust or impacted without at least 1k different users voting (or some other #). Kind of like not getting a review posted on bizrate without 20 follow up surveys completed in a 90 day period. Yes, nothing it spam proof, but if they should be able to control a lot as they have software running on your machine
