That tool you are looking for has been mentioned in many posts on almost as many threads here on SEO Chat... it is that area between your ears. No other tool can compare and it is free.

Well I agree with SEO_AM that if there are a few good brain cells left between the wax and ears that is the best tool.

I have used the free and paid version of webposition gold in the past and was happy with it though there was a little leaning curve.

I have used the trail version of webceo and I like its ease of use I am yet to still ponder if it actually helped as I know it has been mentioned on this site many times... more than I can count.

After scrutinizing all I would say look over the trail programs and then read everything here and use the "grey matter" that most of us have ( I'm still evaluating if I qualify on the grey matter ) then go from there. Oh and come back here and ask many questions as I have had better results here than many trial software programs.

It is about good links
It is about good tags
It is about good title tags
It is about good heading tags
It is about sprinkling a little bit of this with that ...
It is a little about meta tags
It is .. blah blah blah blah blah

The important point here is if you can understand the blah blah blah and get to the "meat and potatoes" of the chat then seochat forum is better than any software program or any other site.

Now if Randfish can offer an online course through the university I might be set but that is a different thread.

Good post and great summary.

Bottom line.... if you are using a program that helps you build pages that mimic your competitors what kind of results will you get? If you are using software that everyone else is using what kind of competetive advantage is that? Mediocre at best and a mimic of some sites can get you into trouble long term.

Learn enough to kick their asses. Invest in yourself by careful study, experimentation with close record keeping and again a study of what results.

One more point to add is the clever title tag. That wins when your pages are even close to your competitor's. I have not seen software to do that for you and IMO this is the mark of the person who has really learned the craft.

There should be a sticky post with all the tools on them.
Starting with the free ones right through to the most expensive.

Similar to the thread that has all the directorys in it.

My sentiments exactly. The best tool is just taking the time to look at teverything yourself and make the best decisions you can. The best tool, is NO tool.
