You know that is a nice tool but a few other tools I found but have not been updated for a while have to do with KEI. I am sure Randfish has an understanding of KEI and I would love to hear his take on this.If you do a search on G for "Market matrix kei" it should show. You must have excel. If you dig deeper at that site there should be a similar tool to good keywords. I just wish they would update the dang files but they are free.
The two files there have been the best 2 free tools I have ever used. Let me know what you all think. |

First, I think that wordtracker is a great tool for prospecting for keywords. I personally don't use the KEI info because it is a ratio between the number of searchers and number of pages competing. Although that is a measure of competition it falls short of going to the SERP and looking at the optimization and PR of the sites who hold first page listings. There are lots of terms that have fantastic KEI numbers but the competition there is fierce. At the same time there are lots of terms with low low KEI but it is rather easy to make TopSERPs.
I use these tools to help me get keyword ideas. Keywords that have an lot of search volume and those that seem like they would convert well. Then I go look at the SERPs and decide if I want to get into the fight.
