Toolbar War Rages On
HotBot Pushes Toolbar with Local-File Search
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1552488,00.asp Seems to me that the company that wins the toolbar race, just might be the company that ends up winning the search engine race. No one wants a million toolbars cluttering up their browser space, so it might be interesting to see which toolbar replaces the google toolbar (if any). Certainly, adding local file search to the toolbar is something that is interesting (and which MSN will be doing as well), so who knows...

Most users have no idea what toolbar they are using, and if they have one downloaded it was probably an accident, it's only us sad folk that check out all the toolbars and are paranoid about the little green bar!
I use my google toolbar all the time too, but we are not Joe punter searching the web. |

Actually there's been some good articles recently about local file search including on in the Economist last week.
Anyway, the reason I came into this thread -- is there a way to get Yahoo!'s toolbar to show "WebRank" that I don't know about? How do people normally see their Yahoo! webrank?

After posting this, I installed, uninstalled, repaired, poked at, and pis3ed on my Yahoo! toolbar but it doesn't show WebRank or prompt me to "install with webrank" as the Yahoo FAQ suggests.

Google Toolbar
I originally used Google's toolbar to block pop-ups. It took a while before I actually started using all the functionality it has to offer. If one learns to use it, it can make you more efficient.
