Because less techie users wont even notice that it has changed or care. Those are the people that sites like that make money from.

1) It's not a virus. it's adware or spyware. Thats why Norton is not catching it (and the spyware detection in NAV 2004 is horrible)

2) Why report to google? The program is probably not hijacking the toolbar itself, just the registry entries the default search engine pages use to pull up results.

3) You need a spyware/adware removal program. There are many 'bad' ones out there that do more harm than good. I personally use either spysweeper from webroot.com, or ad-aware from lavasoftusa.com. There are some other good ones but those catch a lot. Also for common browser hijacks you can search for CWShredder.

I also use Ad-Aware from LavaSoft so far its pretty good. I recommend it. It got rid of some spyware/adware junk that I've been hunting done in the registry but it kept on popping up, but Ad-Aware did the trick and removed everything.

You need to upgrade your systems, and install an antivirus software, use the anti-spy software remove all the adwares, then you would be fine

Toolbar virus... lol!

As Aleister said, it is not a virus. Use an adaware program and ge trid of it. Adaware is the best, spybot is another one to use.

You should also do an adware checkup and cleanup at least once a week.

AdAware is great. Unfortunately it detects the Alexa toolbar as a data harvester because it sends the URL your viewing back to them to get site info (just like the Google bar does).

some of the newer spyware/adware things actually can't be picked up by spybot or adaware (yet).

in the meantime try "CWShredder" if you can't get rid of it

I have used Ad-Aware successfully for a couple of years now, but don't always remember to use it. I got the same problem withe the toolbar, so I updated Ad-Aware, ran it, and the problem went away!

There are lots of adware/spywares/viruses coming to your computer through Yahoo toolbar, not most of the toolbars are coming up with prices. I had to format my PC once.. Nowdays I am sick of some bestsearch.cc

I have tried a few spyware removers, but none has done any good.........
I wish i good just give this bestsearch.cc kick in their as***.
