Toolbar 2.0

Google has created a new version of the toolbar, Toolbar 2.0. It has some new features like popup-blocking and blog posts. It's still the BETA version, so in the final version could be maked some changes.

Check it out at: http://toolbar.google.com/index-beta

Sounds good, but why do they have to add pop-up blocker. Making money with pop-ups is becoming harder every day.

The one thing that really p..... me off is pop ups ! The fact I hate them will be reflected on the potencial buyer who hates them , no point having them as they slow down the surfers experiance .
Ban pop ups I say !!!

yeah, I noticed that too. Pretty Strange. Oh, and I know it's not a new feature in beta 2, but what exactly does 'Voting' do.. (the 2 voting smileys)

Fix PageRank through proxies - If you are behind a firewall and a proxy server, PageRank may not perform reliably. Use this experimental option only if you are having problems with PageRank not displaying results.

Quote:
Voting Buttons - You can vote for or against a page or search result by using these buttons. Click the happy or unhappy faces to tell Google that you like or dislike a particular page. These buttons also can be used to report especially good or bad results after searching with Google. Indicate satisfaction or dissatisfaction with your results by clicking the appropriate button while still on the search results page. This feature is in test mode for now, so you won't see any immediate effects by voting for or against a page.

Pk_synths and st, these quotes taked from http://toolbar.google.com/options_help-beta.html will answer your questions I think.

It hasn't worked properly to begin with firewall or no firewall

I am speechless. Now the online user has the power to vote whether the results are accurate??? How does this exactly work?? What if the user is a moron and just dosn't know what the heck he's looking for and punishs sites because he mistyped a word or didn't phrase keywords properly?? I've had users write emails because my site didn't have enough research so they couldn't finish their homework!! It's a freaking consumer site not the library!!

What about competition just voting against your site??? I'm sure it's pretty easy to use an ip maker prog and flood Google with negative votes till the cows crawl out of my a$$

I know I'm jumping to conclusions but it just seems like Google flipped every SEO in the world OFF recently.

I need a hug and a nap I feel beat up.

Take it easy, pk_synths! Google says it's still in the test mode and immediate effects will not be seen. Besides, google don't say what these effects will be; for own use? as a website rate? in rankings? who knows it. There are some rumours too on the web that hitting a vote button will add(lets googlebot crawl) a site to the google index. Just sit back and wait for google to found out things about this function of the toolbar. By the way, this function was already available at the standard Toolbar, on a test-basis too.

Aaaahh another pop-up blocker...just what we needed...something to stop the annoying ads and render some good sites' navs impossible to use...

I hate the damned things but I don't mind too much if a site pops them up every few pages or so (as long as the ads are for quality products/services relevant to the site and you can go back to that page without it popping up again... cookies aren't all evil!) We all have to make a living in this business and, while I wouldn't use pop-ups myself, costs have to be covered.

I'd rather endure that than a PPV internet.

There is only one good pop-up blocker in my humble opinion...yourself... if you go to a site that uses them excessively click off the site and don't go back.

A blog page (also called weblog) is a website which is frequently updated with short messages.
