There is a great tool called "google" it allows you to perform searches for keywords and then displays relevant sites.

    Here it is - http://www.google.com

    Try searching "keyword" "forum"

    Good luck.

Eaxactly the same way as Darren said. But you may try a little trick.

For example you would like to search for seo forums talking about page rank.

In that case search in google like this:

    inurl:forum seo page rank

That is a very good technique, using this you can find forums which many people would normally miss out on. Another way to search for forums is to Google:
"your keyword" + "powered by vbulletin"
"your keyword" + "powered by phpbb"
"your keyword" + "powered by mybb"
"your keyword" + "powered by punbb"
    and so on....

All the above are popular forum scripts. 98 percent of forums in any niche are created using these scripts. So by searching through footprints we can have a very good chance of finding lots of forums in our niche. For complete list of forum scripts you can check the wikipedia article:
Comparison of Internet forum software (PHP) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One more way to search for forums: go to big-boards.com which contains a list of many forums in different categories and niches. Enjoy!
