Remove your Google Toolbar

I have been a fan of the Google toolbar for a long time...

But I'm the first one to except the uninstallation of my toolbar....

Upon download, your Google toolbar discusses that fact that with it's advanced features enabled, (PR bar, Direcotry Tabs) that information about the sites you visit will be sent to Google and used to modify there search technology....

I don't like anyone having information about anything I do, but for the use of the Google toolbar, it's worth it...

Google is trying to get everyone to:

1 - stop focusing on Pagerank....
2 - stop buying links based on PR
3 - stop selling THEIR pr on your site...

Google wins:
Toolbar anvanced features enabled...
Their still watching you while your watching nothing...

----

I am uninstalling my toolbar because:
Serps display url's of sites that are gray
Serps display url's of sites that are white
Serps display url's of sites that are any PR

Google has won.....
They have made us THINK that PR doesn't matter by simply making it NOT MATTER....

But I'm uninstalling the toolbar......

Don't let them fool you - PR isn't going anywhere for good....
They just wan't us to think so.....

I'll re-install - when they're offering something in return....

hmmmmmmm
u dont have to get sooo hyper abt it... Im keeping my google toolbar the way it is :-)

Google is not really interested in the browsing pattern of a single person.. they would be more concerned by general browsing patterns...That too they would have some kind of algo giving them some summary for ppl in general...

Why bother with the toolbar when you can always access PR with webmasterbrain.

Hmmm...I'm keeping my toolbar. I really don't think they are looking at the individual at all. Its just another tool to factor in with a million other things. Besides, its handy, blocks the occassional popup....

Crichey, every toolbar blocks popups! Its not a feature anymore! Ok..not totally true but all toolbars these days have them built in and it messes my beowser they all fight to who to stop the popup, is it google, msn, ask jeeves...or even an external popup blocker?

Thumbs up My friend and I were just talking about this

she thinks google will not be getting rid of PR as some are speculating because people will start uninstalling the toolbar. Which I find really ironic that she said this and then I come here and see this. I think maybe I will follow suit. Because as far as I can tell, PR still matters but I think they just don't want us to know what a site's PR is. What the heck do I need a toolbar for if all its doing is logging my searches and blocking popups. Who needs that? I think you are on the right track. Google needs us as much as we need them right?

I uninstalled mine a little while ago. It has proven to be worthless now a days. PR doesn't update, so I don't have a use for it. In terms of pop-up blocker. They all have them now. And for searches, I laugh, Google has some of the worst SERPs these days. I'll stick with Yahoo or Teoma.

When the word is out that there back to business - I'll re-install it.... But for now....

Mine's gone - and I'm back to just checking serps....

I know there not checking the individual, but overall - I'm not in the business of participating in their marketing studies....

Let them watch someone else..... when there willing to trade my info for theres - I'm game....

Cool

Jeez... all you people whining about how unfair the toolbar is and how glad you are because you uninstalled it... but I can bet that the moment you find out that Google has done a PR update, you will jump to your computer and install it again to check your PR... and if it went up, you will post over and over how happy you are about your new rank and will keep the toolbar and admire your PR every time you go to your site.

Talking Well I haven't uninstalled it

And I don't think I am whining. If you want to talk to a real whiner I will put you in touch with my three year old. LOL. I just think that he has a valid point about google and the toolbar. I also think that my friend is correct and they are not going to get rid of PR because why would anyone use their toolbar if they did? That is the only reason I posted. Of course I think the whining wasn't directed at me. Look I think we are all having google withdrawals and some people handle things better than others.

I am starting a google addicts anonymous support board for all of the whiners. JK.

I can't wait to see what is up.

Well not the first, i removed it
days ago. Really the only 2 things i used it for was viewing PR, and viewing backward links.

I won't be running to reinstall it when a PR update comes round, i will simply check my site with one of the many online tools. It's pointless having my sites PR showing every page load, every day of the week for an event that happens once a month or so. It wouldn't matter if my site was PR0 or PR10, really why stare at it every day, it's like watching the grass grow... pointless.

I don't get pop-ups, and for backlinks it's no trouble typing link:www.whatever

So on a 15inch laptop screen it's great to have the toolbar gone and reclaim some visible screen area.
