I think we need to start a google toolbar support group. No offense pocketkangaroo, but what planet are you on? Teoma and Yahoo for search engine results? You must love SPAM. Yahoo is all over the place, and anyone wanting to black hat will kick a$$ in their results. Teoma----is that still around

Googles results are garbage these days. I think that with their IPO they have motive to try and push people to their adwords since the investors will be screaming for profit margins. One way to do this is to keep those same type of garbage results. Yahoo and MSN have both gained ground into googles market share in the last 2 months..if google continues to offer these same type of results they will lose more market share to Yahoo and MSN. Right now the only reason IMHO google is being searched at all is habit by the consumer..but I would suggest that the consumers after viewing the results they get are heading right over to Yahoo or MSN to find what they really need. I know personally that my traffic has picked up a great deal over the last 2 months from yahoo and msn. Even though my website took a drop from the first page of google, even when I was # 3 on google for my industries main search phrase, the traffic I get now from Yahoo and MSN together out performs google when I was # 3. |

Add a Google Toolbar for Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox
I don't use MS IE, so I find these toolbars very useful to find PR. PR, although less relevant, still gives an idea of a sites popularity (at least ones more than a few months old).
I use this: http://www.tapouillo.com/firefox_extension/ (Mozilla PR Extension). It only occupies a little space on the lower right corner. If you want a full or almost full IE-toolbar clone, use this: http://www.prgooglebar.org/ (PR GoogleBar). I find it takes up too much real estate, but it works great. Both use the "new" checksum algorithm. |

I keep seeing people saying `remove the toolbar`!
Its like saying `shoot the hen because it not laid an egg today` We don`t know for sure that pagerank is dead and not just delayed. Anybody new to the forums, please use caution when reading the statement that `pagerank is dead`and `the toolbar in no longer of use`. |

Wow,.. so much complaining about Google, I can't believe it...
Then there is this nice little highlight button. That one I love the most. It makes scanning a page even more easy and when writing search engine copy, or checking a website, it is easy to see where all the keywords are located. Very handy feature. Then this "search site" button. Simply click on it, and you know how many pages are indexed. Same for getting the cached version, the backlinks, etc. oh yeah,. it also shows PageRank,. ah and to those that think the results are sooooo bad,. just add something like -jdgqihqwhoqojqb after your search query and you get the "old results" back. Yep that still works or is working again. I don't really see how those old results are any better or worse than the new results. They´re pretty much the same,... in quality I mean. Though some other pages show up, you still find what you´re looking for. PageRank, Google will do something with it. And I doubt it is true that Google doesn't want people to sell links based on the pagerank of a page. The truth probably is that they don't care. If a link is real and useful then who are they to say that that link would be ilegal? I never heard anybody complain about banner advertising. Banner advertising is totally ok, Nobody complains about it. But the fact that banners also pass PageRank is totally ignored. I believe that Google is already pretty good at ignoring unrelated links so there´s really no interest in getting links from unrelated websites. |
