Page rank jumped three times today

Ok....I was showing others in our company the Google PageRank system and we started the day as a 6/10...our normal ranking.

Then in the early afternoon, I looked up and noticed it was a 5. I opened another browser to double check and yes indeed, we were a 5/10.

So, feeling pretty traumatized, I stood up, stuck my fist into my PC monitor and threw it out the window.

Kidding.... I was traumatized though. Anyways...as I write this, just four hours after we were a 5/10, we are back to a 6/10.

Has anyone ever experienced this much movement in a day? I've been using the Google Toolbar since they came out with it and really do monitor our position...never seen this before.

It may be "dance related". Although I am not sure id PR is effected by the dance. Google dance is when google reindexes its directory. Fluctuations are the norm during theis period.

I'm normally a 4/10. Yesterday for most of the day I was 0/10. Today, I'm back to my 4/10. Go figure. I think there was a dance yesterday.

some sites have different toolbar readings depending upon how the URL is type in the address bar or the address of a link that took you there.

domain.com can yield different results from www.domain.com or even www.domain.com/

Bottom line on this is if you are building pages, requesting links or doing anything link related, try to be consistent... I have seen lots of domains with their PR split between different versions of their URL.

it could definitely be dance related. I was showing 3 PR points high than usual yesterday, but before I could get too excited it dropped back down....I am hoping that once the dance is over it will go up again (crossing fingers)

this is a good point. different URL extensions for the same page often show a different PR.

also sometimes
mysite.com
will have a different pagerank than
mysite.com/index.php
