Even though I have been listed in DMOZ and in the Google directory for several months, the Google toolbar has always shown my site as: "No know web directory category for this page".
It is now showing the correct categories for several of my websites. I don't know if this affects SERPS or not... but it's good to know anyway. |

On the toolbar itself click on the Google icon which is on the left side. That will bring up a drop down menu. Then click on "options". Click the "more" tab. Then place a check mark for "category" which is under the heading "web buttons". |

My site that just recently got its category listing in the SERPs shows a listing now that I have the directory part enabled.
Thanks! |

When the category feature is enabled, they state that information will be sent back to Google related the page you are viewing. Does anyone know what this does? Thanks, Beth

So don't go visiting competitor sites with this button on! Or am I just barking?

Think you must be barking because I've not heard any reason why you should'nt.
If Google does take information I am sure they are breaking some privacy laws, because it certainly doesn't mention that in any documentation when downloading the Google toolbar. |
