My site has always been a PR2. i occassionally check it to see if its changed. The toolbar now says 0. I've checked the rank through SEO websites and one said it was still a 2 and the other a 3. I don't know which one to believe. Also, one gave me back different IP addresses with different PRs. What's that about?

There are different data centers that show PR as different numbers.
And to make things even more complicated, you're only seeing the visible PR, there is also a "real PR" - which is more fluid.

Just uninstall the toolbar and then it will no longer be an issue.

Haha I like this theory, PR is a bit like a young dumb blonde, we all want as much as we can, and will do most things to have it, but when it comes down to it, Whats the point? Its not worth anything and contributes nothing to life, it just looks pretty... |

Well, I know one advantage of a high PR. When you are trying for a reciprocal link exchange, the other guy will look at your PR and then decide (unless he believes in your theory). If it has a high PR, it makes him think that the site is good and he will most probably reciporocate.....
Moreover, many ppl who have high PR on their site are making money through advertisements. However, I also think that PR doesn't give you any real benefit but since so many people still believe it's a good thing and are willing to spend money on that, the others will capitalize on it. What do you think? Quote:

I think it is a fair point you have made there. I agree, PR gives you more chips to bargain with, its true (sadly), but I think lots of other webmasters are coming around to the idea of non PR based link exchanges. I got 8 email requests yesterday, the only stipulations were that the page the link was on was cached. The ethics of Link exchanges and PR i think will be changing over the next 18 months as others become more away that actually, PR is only half of the battle, Good traffic flows are too. |

I agree with you,MrLeroy.. PR attracts other webmasters/ or even just a browser in exchanging links to your site. But that is useless if your traffic is low and you don't earn anything. It is better if you get a link exchange that has a good traffic as well as PR.. Last edited by redblush : May 15th, 2007 at 01:29 PM. |
