    Google+ is a big deal - Seriously!

OK, so I am a little surprised to find this area of the forum is under used.

    Who here uses Google+?

Google+ is a very big deal in SEO, there are many things in Google+ that will help to increase rankings either in a direct or indirect way, not to mention the huge networking potential it gives.

    Thoughts.....?

I do use Google +, but I literally just set it up. TBO I know it's going to have a big impact on Google's rankings in the future and I'm aware that there are some additional benefits to having it for Google Authorship, but everybody I know is only on Facebook currently and not on Google + so I have this lonely little profile just sitting there. My only real concern is as this becomes a bigger ranking signal, if I'm not in a bunch of circles I won't get much out of it... time to network I guess.

Google+ is great. I use it as a social bookmarking site, gets traffic from it, browse SEO communities for knowledge, and additionally it gives dofollow link.

Are we talking Google + or +1 or both?
ie. Company having a Google plus page, using the +1 (now g+1?) button on their site, or both.

We are talking about Google+, the social networking site from Google. And basically +1 (just like FB like) is something around the web that you agree with, like, or want to recommend (social signals).

Ok. I was wondering because the +1 "like" also has benefits.

My company is looking at what our social media strategy should be, but we intend to create a real plan before launching.
I imagine Google + and Facebook will both be involved.

Personally I love Google + but nobody I know is on it. So I am stuck with Facebook which should be a counter example in every UI design book ever printed.

I have been using Google+ for a few months and find it good to use. It has got it's benefits just like any other social network and can have the potential to be a leading social network. There are also SEO benefits towards posting your articles/pages on the network however that will probably change when it's abused, and i'm not sure if everything posted gives you a dofollow for your links as Shobhit mentioned earlier in this post, but putting your site in the profile section has a small benefit, and webmaster tools also acknowledges links from the network.

I know it's unrelated to this thread, but this part of your post is interesting to me. Why do you think it should be a counter example?

In my experience even people who use facebook daily have difficulty performing simple functions like sending a private message to a friend, unsubscribibing/blocking a group, etc.
They use mystery meat navigation (meaningless icons). Many functions are hidden in unpredictable places. Want to see a list of your friends? click on your own name (which may well be where you think you already are). Things like the 'photos' tab do not differentiate between photos you took and photos your friends took.

Basically the UI actually actively gets in the way of getting things done rather than being so easy it is invisible.

They really hit the list of things you shouldn't do:
    Mystery meat
    Tings hidden in non-intuitive places
No differentiation between different types of content
Sections mislabeled (ex. "Favorites" as a heading on the left hand nav above things like "messages")
Comments do not thread even on full size site

It's a mess that grew over time and nobody ever bothered to really look at from a useability standpoint because they can force their users to learn each new quirk to the interface.

Hay I just mention in my opinion, Right now for common social network I hear only face book.
Such as in TV, in Philippines, they will include face book .
But for Google+ I never see in any free advertise.
