Will this link affect my pagerank?
A site with Pagerank of 6/10 put a link to my web site. But I've noticed that mine, and some other links on that site go through a script.
That's how it's liked to my site: http://www.domain.com/cgi-bin/clickcnt.cgi?wetplace|T|http://www.mysite.com/ and there are others which look like this: http://www.domain.com/cgi-bin/clickcnt.cgi?wetplace|G|http://www.domain.com/ http://www.domain.com/cgi-bin/clickcnt.cgi?wetplace|Q|http://www.domain.com/ and my questions is simple: Will this effect my pagerank? Thank you in advance! |

I don't think that PR will be passed through redirects like this.

If it runs through a script it will not count. Write to them and tell them that you are putting up lots of links to their competitor.

I've emailed the owner of the web site regarding my link, and she changed the code to this:
<a href="http://www.domain.com/" onmouseover="window.status='http://www.domain.com/'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">Name of the site</a> Desc. of site.<br> I am half sure that this will be counted for my pagerank, but I just want to be sure. What do you think? And also, some of her links in the same list of links where I am, the code is normal, like: <a href=http://www.domainname.com/>Name of the site</a> Big Celebs Collection!<br> Thanks |

Thats Bs, if she wants to give you credit and have a new browser open tell her to use target="" she is just being difficult and trying to conserve PR there is no excuse for trying to screw your link partners. Tell her html only or "forget it I'll trade with SEO Guy" lol

Lots of people depend upon link exchange for the success of their sites and spend countless hours chasing links. I don't do link exchange but it really make me made to hear about some sites screwing their link partners out of what is supposed to be a trade for mutual gain.
I'd like to see a thread or better yet an informative article on this subject. We don't want to see our friends here get cheated and the only way to prevent that is education. Plus when we get solicitations for links and we see this crap we need to write back and call them a cheater. Education is the only way to protect yourself and the best way to fight back against the rats who do this double-crossing. I am still hoping that these cheaters get the flea treatment that maluk hoped for. lol |

Thank you for support guys, and I do too agree that I just should tell her to go off.
But her site is alot bigger and more famous than mine, so I don't really want to lose her pagerank. I've emailed her 1st time, and she changed the code, and if this new code still is bad, I'll email her again and I am sure she'll change it to normal html. So guys, is this new code useless for me? <a href="http://www.domain.com/" onmouseover="window.status='http://www.domain.com/'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">Name of the site</a> Desc. of site.<br> SEO guy, I'll pm you her and mine url. |

Sounds Good, that script is not worth taking the chance, this is exactly the type of candidate for my new domain www.seo-tests.com It is not online yet but will be soon.
Also I'm taking suggestions and requests as to how to go about making htis site user friendly. It will always be free, and I dont mind spending the time and the more input and participation the better it will be. Anyone else have a question they need answered through experiment? |

I've got a couple: 1. Pertaining to this topic, I think you should have a section related to link partners. A few things to include: - Why giving real links to your partners, not this script/JS crap that screws your link partners. Tell people how what they do will come back to them. - Give examples for the types of links that can't be followed, and the types of pages. For example, a page that has PR0 because it can't be indexed for whatever scripting reason doesn't do anyone any good in Google because the bot doesn't find it. Stuff like JS links, examples of redirects. Also, for the experimenting part, the thing I am most interested in is the internal linking strategy. How to link your pages together in the most effective way to focus on the home page, to focus on 2 pages, to focus on your 3 category pages etc. Oh and one more, how to create forums that get indexed, and how to create directories that get indexed yet use database stuff to make them run simply. ok that is a lot and it isn't exactly basic stuff but it is some thoughs  |

I agree that all these points would be very valuable and informatative. And the points about "examples for the types of links that can't be followed" and "how to create directories that get indexed yet use database " would be awesome! |

Great input guys keep it coming. Still gotta build the frame but awsome requests. As long as they are testable they will be tested. Things like
"final word on whethere google follows flash links" "Java links - 10 types and are they indexed" Factor testing. Title, no text, text no title etc all with the same single backlink " and lots more planned Im rally quite excited about for those of us who just "have to know" |

Will do Egol, In fact I do this in support of our beloved forum and the plan is to debate the best way to test anything here at seochat before it goes onto the pages that way we work out the quirks and find the best ways to test them. Will help us on in our businesses and also hopefully draw a lot more great posters like the ones we have here already and increase our community
