Will this help increase my PR

I have an informational website that is gueared to helping acne sufferes deal with their skin condition (i.e.: physical/psychological aspects of acne, types and causes, etc..). The thing is, I want to create some more informational websites, be it 1 - 3 pages in length, and link them to my main website. All of the information on these other websites would be relevant and unique (not mirror sites/info) as I can easily pump out tons of info in a short amount of time on the subject. I want to increase my PR as I do have an affiliate section on the main site which is gueared to help acne sufferers locate diferent acne treatments and help us make some coin on the side.

What do you think, would I be wasting my time creating these pages 8)

Do you think those other sites would get genuine inbound links?? If so then I don't see a problem, however if they are just there to have extra inbound links to the main site then I don't see a point.

I'd spend my time putting more content onto the main site and hope to gain more inbound links!!

Maybe, maybe not

tough call.

i'd make the portal sites a minimum of 5 pages and make sure they contain genuinely good, relevant content. Make sure it's something that in an of itself would attract a visitor (though i know that isn't the point).

the better the portals the higher the chance of them getting listed on DMOZ and Yahoo and that'll naturally increase your PR.

regardless ... GOOD LUCK !!!

5 pages eh? So long as it helps!

5 pages eh? I could do this (about 300-400 words per page) I suppose. All of the info would be very relevant and even helpful. I can reproduce the treatment page from our main site onto this one as well.

I will be doing the same thing for my future websites as well. Do you think that it would be a good idea if I were to set up links from other affiliate programs to the acne one? Or will this not help (i.e.: a viagra informational/affilite website linking to my acne site, etc...)?

affiliate sites

It would really depend on what the other affiliate sites were about.

The key to PR is RELEVANT LINKS. i.e. they must be related to your topic to truly gain anything from them.

Good luck. Hope you're independantly wealthy by 2004!

Cheers,

Content is King, if it's good stuff...

If you are building 'useful' stuff, that's good, if it's there just to get the small amount of PR that they themselves would donate then you are just missing the point about content.

If your sites are genuine and only you can say this, you know your area... then that's good.

If nobody does for you...

I think that if nobody does for you, you can/should build your own links.

The only stuff you must avoid is the duplicate content and the just-links pages.
