Why is my non www domain with a lower PR listing higer than the www domain?
Sorry for the vague and confusing title, but i don't know how to put it.
So my domain.com has a PR of 2, and www.domain.com has a PR of 5. For my most competitive and optimized keyword the domain.com is comming up as 1, with the www.domain.com coming up at 108. This all started yesterday, and throughout the day it updated to all datacenters (execpt 2 which won't show up). Can someone explain to me why my pr of 2 is that far ahead of the PR5? I use WebPositionGold and was about to start implementing their suggestions when my site showed up as number 1, so now i am reluctant to change anything. Thanks guys. |

google sees these 2 addresses as 2 distinct pages.
so...based on varying external factors...e.g.---backlinks...one page receives a diff pr than the other. the more critical point to make here is that the total pr value is being split up...and thus....weakening the pr of each url as a result.

I started thinking about it a bit, and i think maybe somewhere there might be another site linking to me with the proper anchor text?? Dunno, i'm fairly new to all this. Is there something i can do to "combine" the sites to raise PR? I'm reluctant to do so however becasue i'm in a VERY favorable position currently, and don't want to do anything to screw it up. |

Another new tip for newcompers, drop web position gold it is software, not an SEO. If you truly want to understand SEO then forums such as this where you can interact with your peers are indespensable. Not to mention WPG's querying feature is against Googles terms of service and can get your IP banned. Welcome to SEO Kwyjibo Great to have new members

www.constructionloancenter.com is my site.
and it looks like i am now slowly being removed from the number one position in the datacenters. I was the number one spot since about February, and within the last 3 weeks or so its all gone to hell... thanks guys. |

Quick tip Kwyj - Because your backlinks are pointing to www.constructionloancenter.com change your internal link to that destination as well, currently you have them pointing to http://www.constructionloancenter.com/index.shtml which resolves the same information but is seen as a different url by google and thus you are effectively diluting your pagerank. Also you should change the anchor of the link from "Home page" to "Construction loans" or "construction loans homepage"
I suggest this link <a href="http://www.constructionloancenter.com" title="Construction loans">Construction loans</a> for your link back to the homepage, should help solidify your ranking Cheers |

Could google see these as duplicate pages and drop one completely?

I doubt it, there are many examples of this /index.html PR 5 .com PR 8 etc and they dont seem to show i'll effects. Its something that to many webmasters would do innocently and would not constitute a ban. I dont think Google even lists index.html, php, shtml etc as you would be hard pressed to find one in the index. The only proof is in the PR values being different
