Why a PR 0 page is in Google top?
Hi,
I am from Brazil and have a doubt. If I do a google search for "miniaturas" keyword, the site www.cristinaminiaturas.hpg.com.br seems the first site on google list. However, this site is PR 0 and has few contents on the pages. I would like to know why this site is the first, seeming before from PR 6 sites, for example Thanks a lot André |

actual PR of that site is probably not zero, may be PR5 or PR6, you should be able to the PR of that site in a few weeks.

If the site is new it will get a big initial boost.
It will revert to it's proper place after a few weeks.

The domain you listed http://www.cristinaminiaturas.hpg.com.br has a page rank buts it is redirecting to http://www.cristinaminiaturas.hpg.ig.com.br that has no PR.

None of my sites got this boost as well. I found that when they first get listed in Google, they have a low ranking and then slowly find their way to the top of Google's search results as time goes by.

Not if http://www.cristinaminiaturas.hpg.com.br is an old site. It redirects to http://www.cristinaminiaturas.hpg.ig.com.br.
It's just like uploading a new site to an old domain. You bypass the "sandbox" filter. |

Yes it does seem to happen with some sites and not others. Had one recently put site up, crawled next day, 2 days later #1 out of 2,750,000 sites, 1 BL zero PR. Smokin Lasted 5 days then went #250 Last edited by thewormman : June 4th, 2004 at 05:41 PM. |

i found this the case for noncompetitive keywords. they will slowly rise to the top depending on your SEO. i think google's sandbox effect is for any competitive keyword. one day, if you have been doing your SEO, you will check the SERPs and your site will have made a significant jump when it gets out of the sandbox. |

Is this not a dangerous tactic, can't believe google aren't aware of this.
What's the advantage of doing this, I mean why not just optimise the site that you're redirecting to? How would you go about analysing the SEO techniques used on these redirect pages, can't view source coz I keep getting redirected - doh! Lar |
