what is happening?

Hi,
I have a high PR site that is crawled almost hourly, I updated few of my pages about 5 days ago, usually google updates the cache within 24 hrs but is has not done so in the last 5 days.
Also I noticed in another one of my site (still high PR) that the googlebot has reduced to about half of what it was doing daily (started about 5 days ago as well).
As anybody else noticed this pattern or are just my sites being hit by something?

They may be in the middle of something. I havent noticed a change in the way my site is indexed, mind you, I'm quite low in PR terms.

Well it must have something to do with the last public-update. Which was 6 days agao today (May 31st). I've seen increased activity at my site from GoogleBot the past few days, but none today. So just wait and see what happens, no real explanations can be said since we are not google.

Many people say this. It slowed down. Usually because Google is busy updating something. We should see what soon.

I noticed the sudden slow down...

After the huge amount of spider activity in May, the timing of the last update and the "illogicalities" in the results - backlinks dropped without pr loss, pr loss without backlink loss, pr removed from google cache copies, etc - the number of new pages that google now seems to be listing without picking up titles, descriptions and such...
I could probably theorise all day about what it all might mean but that stuff just makes my head hurt!
I'm guessing another change in the next week or two, after which things will make a lot more sense again.
I hope so anyway, otherwise something bigger will have changed - and you know what that means - more theories

are you judging activity by bandwidth or by files?

if it's bandwidth but not files changing, that'd be interesting, maybe they're testing out HTTP1.1 support..
