What do you think?
I know I've talked about this before, but I have a chance to get a PR9 link (30-60 days)to my 2 month old site that already has (3) PR7's.
Also, I've got a site that is a PR4 with no other BL's with higher PR. Which one would you say would benefit the most? The new site with no PR, or my exsisting site with PR4? Thx, 7 |

PR9 should go to your PR4 site since your new site has 3 PR7 already. But I'm not sure PR9 will make a difference if it's just for 30-60 days.

Since I can't have the PR9 forever, how long at the very least should I have it...3-4 months perhapse?

you should have the PR9 link for 4-6 months but it depends on the purpose of having that link. I assume you are paying for that link to get a higher PR for your site, so you can exchange link with other sites

Yes, It's to increase the PR...
I was wondering what kind of jump I could expect ( if any ) for a PR9 BL to my PR4 site ( with no current BLs) - or -, from my PR0 with (3) PR7's...I just want to maximize my PR results for either site if I get the PR9 link. |

I personally wouldn't pay for a link. Thats just me though. Especially if it is only going to be a short term solution. I would work on a long term plan. I am sure you know that. I would rather spend my money on google adwords than a link. A link might not get you where you want to be. I use adwords for some of the keywords that are going to be tough for me to get a top spot for. I would think that would be a more secure investment. Just my personal opinion.

3-4 months would not be enough. To get the visible PR to shown and help links exchange it takes like two updates. |

I agree with Joc. Save your money. You will no sooner gain benefit from the link and it will be gone unless you think you can really leverage the exta short term PR boost to your benefit. I have heard nothing here so far that justifies it. It becomes a strategy and business decision that only you know the answer to.

Spend your time on content and ...
... PR and visitors will come eventually and keep on coming. At no charge. Guaranteed! If you want to invest some cash, spend it in a special directory that is relevant to your site but not in a temporary generic PR link. That's flushing money down the drain.

I see, so any PR that I get from these paid links, I lose once they are gone....?

What if the PR9 link would increase his site to lets say PR7.
If his home page would be PR7 and let's say 20 of his internal pages reach PR6 and about 50-100 reach PR5, wouldn't that help him keep his PR7 ? (This is a hypothetical situation). I'm just wondering, because I might buy a PR9 text link for 3-6 months and I'm wondering how the impact would be on my site.

Snap!
Hmm, so based on what I am looking at as far as competition, My toughest competitor is now a PR8 with around 5400 google BL's. I know that they must be paid for BL's since they are all on PR7 and PR8's.... Right now, I'm not in the competition arena with them -just yet..the pr8 that is. I have a current site that is up against a PR5 and PR4. Recently I was #7 for my KW, now I'm at #16 and I am contributing that to the recent google dance...I did see a slight drop in most of my KW ranks that took effect last night, I hope they come back up. -Just to give ya'll some background (not that you're interested) I have been out of the SEO arena for the past 2 years. Before I got out, I was doing the SEO full time and produced good results for all of our sites. Now that I'm back full time, and can focus strictly on current SEO issues all day, so much has changed and its like I have to play a major game of "catch-up". I really appreciate your guys help and input! So far we're doing very very very well, I just need to get in the top slot for that one KW with some stong staying ability for assurance, and then I can focus on our other markets to target. Thx, 7 |

Se7en, welcome back.
I think you can see that nobody here thinks a 6 month PR9 purchase is the way to go...especially if you and this site you are working on are in it for the long haul. So, what you do need to do is focus on getting quality (good theme and PR) back links with good anchor text to your site. You can also build more content pages for your own site and make sure the linking structure for your site is easy to follow and available for g-bot to find and crawl.
