To WWW or not to WWW
I'm a tad miffed that I didn't achieve a PR increase for my www.domain.com (currently PR4) and found that instead I achieved a PR3 from PR1 for domain.com.
I would much rather have had an increase on the URL with www and cannot for the life of me find any backlinks to domain.com. Is it possible to 301 redirect the URL without the www. to the one with and see an increase in PR? Or is it best to leave as is? Is the www. component on its way out? |

Funny because my domain.com went to a PR0 but increased by 2000 backlinks. You can do a 301 redirect and it's should pass some value along. This helps from splitting up the PR later on. I personally haven't tried it but know some people that do that.

Thanks PK,
I am still wondering which is the best way to go though. I mean, if I were to redirect to the prefixed domain name, will that later be a waste of time? And is the lack of the prefix a sign of a coming change in preference? Food for thought I guess, but I seem to remember a time when a URL would not resolve without the prefix. Cheers for your input. |

I would still point everything to http://www.domain.com as that's what Google displays most sites as.
