The effect of PR from other sites.

Hello,

My website has been a PR5 85% of its time on the Internet It has dropped once to PR4 but then quickly picked its PR5 back up.

My question is, how many links from PR6+ does my site need to be able to obtain a PR6 ?

I have a strange feeling that my site is very close to PR6, a few days ago I was doing some mantinace on the site and noticed my subpages bouncing from PR4 to PR5 this went on for the whole day. Since yestuday they are now holding PR5 values as well as my main index page(which has always been 5) but some of the other pages have been PR0'ed when they were PR4 previously - A friend of mine surgested that the googlebot may have got an error or crashed and failed to rank the PR0 pages correctly?

Ive been checking my link popularty today I have a link on a index page of a PR6 and a PR7 site alot of PR5 sites and a few which are PR4.

Have you any ideas or suggestions?

check it out. I have a feeling that your Pr may be higher than your index indicates. remember internal linking can affect PR distribution and give the home page a lower actual pr.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post googler ;)

I tried the tool from the link you posted, I think it will take me a bit of getting used to before I can understand how it fully works. In the mean time I re-read your post - looked at my site, and I think I see the point your trying to make.

Im going to remove the 2nd navigation menu from the base of all the pages, there seems to be no real reason for it being there.. i can easly place a link to send the user to top of page if the page becomes scrollable.
I am also going to remove the links and sitemap urls from all pages after the Index.htm so only the main Index has the links to these pages thus cutting down on internal PR?

Ive tweaked my free guides section to have a breadcrum trail style of navigation which I also will help provide a more clean PR flow.

I hope what im doing it correct? anyone have any ideas / comments?

thanks!

Daniel. ;)

Yes sounds good. Linking the sitemap from the index only as well as the links page. remember to link each page in your free guides section back to the index. Also fill that site map up with keywords that point to each page.

Okay toned things down, I think everything is okay now the PR should flow though much better then it did before.

Will I have to wait until the next google update for my new *fingers crossed* page rank?

Im really sure my main page should be PR6 as the subpages are all PR5 apart from the new ones, even the PR in 1 Directory down from the main index is PR5 and they are normaly -1 less then the index. I really want this PR6 it would mean alot to me.

anyone got any ideas / tips please?

thanks

Daniel.

I dont think google likes my site, or there is somthing that ive missed ....

DeepBot came to my site and has updated the PR on 5 main pages which I added 3 weeks ago they started off grey-bared then recived PR0 today when deepbot PR'ed them they went to PR4 however the rest of the pages which are listed the exact same way via link structure are all PR5. I checked the back links to the PR4 pages I have 11 (internal) back links the PR5 pages have (internal) back links of 15. So the google bot must get bored with my site and just give up?

Ive gone over and over my linking structure time and time again it should work, my main page should be atleast PR6 with subpages PR5 and continuing downwards from there.
