I'm not sure whether it's a good place for this topic... anyway...
I've reached some PR with one of my websites. Index page has PR=5, but ALL OTHER 50 pages have PR=5 and 6 - I consider it to be pretty good passing During this month the quantity of pages will be increased up to 100, and I expect they all to get PR=6. Please advise: 1) should I start selling text links? 2) how much may I charge? 3) where can I find a potential buyer for the links? Maybe there're some intermediates... Website is related to 'web hosting' |

Look at the banner above (LinkAdage). You may want to go with a broker. or if not just post it in different forums that you're selling links. Don't say you're selling them for PR purposes, but do mention what PR they have.
Pricing depends on how you intend to sell. If you do a ROS (run of site: links on all pages) or if you only put the links on the main category pages, etc .... If you do a ROS then I would say a decent price for PR5-PR6 of 100+ pages would be from $50-$100 a month. Another factor considering is, how many other links will be on the page. The less links, the higher the value, the more links, the lower the value. Last thing to keep in mind is the amount of traffic you're receiving. If your site brings in over 1000+ uniques a day, then you might even be able to sell for an even higher price. So it's all up to you. Promote the idea a little and see what people offer you, that way you can get an idea of what to expect.

Thanks, I've just signed, however I"m not sure that I understand how everything works... especially billing aspect.
Will I be charged for adding auctions? Or I'll have to give some % to them when I find a buyer? Frankly speaking, I'm new in this all, maybe there's something easier, maybe some kind of bulletin board where sellers and buyers can post their requests? |

I personally have never sold text links, but if I were to those would be the things I'd take into consideration. Hopefully by next update I pland on receiving at least a PR7, and then I plan on renting some text links, since more people tend to buy higher PR text links regardless of traffic and PR plays the dominant role when buying text links(most of the time, very rarely people buy them because of traffic). I would sell the links most likely myself, since I'm a member of sufficient forums and I feel confident that posts on the forums will yield potential renters.
I also have some questions, so if any one feels they can answer them please do, wether here on the forum or PM me, here they are: When selling how do you declare the income of text-ad links? Especially if you don't have a commercial website or a registered business. I'm only 19 and have no idea of how I would declare possibly $30,000-$100,000 a year in advertising income. I personally have never filed taxes before, so this is probably my main concern, the money issue. When renting do you make out a contract and fax it to them or something? or is it just a verbal agreement? Are there any guidelines when it comes to selling the ads? or is it make up the rules as you go along? If you have any thing else you'd like to ad, please do so as I'm trying to learn as much as possible before I start offering this service to customers. Thanks. |

Definitely write up a contract. Find a pre-law teacher at your college for free help. Keep all receipts/check stubs from payments and just give them to H&R Block or someone who does taxes when it is time.

Well if everything were just that simple......
If someone has the time to explain all of this to me, please do, as I'm very eager to learn about this process. Since it's on a more personal level, please email me at jfontestad@gmail.com I really appreciate it. Anyone with anything to help me understand all of this please email me and let me know. Thanks. |

While browsing and looking for the answers, I've noticed manu interesting prices for text links:
$5 - $15 for PR=5 and $40 - $70 for PR=6 As for me, I would never buy any links for this sum. I'm sure that most people think the same. Please tell what if I sell a placement in the 'partners' section (at all pages: 5 pages with PR=6 and 45 pages with PR=5) for $100 / mo? Is it a reasonable price. By the way, if someone is interested - please let me know. |

On of my sites just went from PR5 to PR6. It has about 80 Pages, with a big potentioal to make more easily. I have also thought about selling links, every page is pristine(no outbound links ).
My question is, if I create oubound links, will that not count towards decreasing my page rank? |

No it won't decrease the Pr for the page with the PR on it. Only thing that will decrease, is the passing amount of PR depending on the number of outbounds you have on the page. If you have one outbound that link gets 85% of your PR, 2 = 42.5% and so on.... this doesn't take away from YOUR PR though, just from the PR passing through your page to the outbound links.
