PR4 Home, All But 2 pages linked to by home have PR3
Another puzzeling discovery that I hope someone can explain. Home Page jumped from 3 to 4...(good start) And ALMOST all of the internal pages linked to by the home page goto PR3. Only 2 of the pages are stuck @ PR2. The internal link popularity of those two pages is identical to all the pages that went to PR3. And there are no IBL's to any pages except the homepage. The only key difference I noticed is that the 2 PR2 pages linked to from the home page have 2 links from home to those pages. Not on purpose, just an issue of the function of selling products. At the bottom of the homepage I have a mini-sitemap linking HOME to all Key internal pages. This is necessary b/c of a java rollover menu.
My first guess would be to think that b/c I'm linking to those 2 pages twice from the homepage that google is taxing the PR on those pages. Any insight is appreciated. |

I don't believe that having two links would damage PR on those pages, maybe onpage factors, I have a similar scenario with most pages PR4 but with 3 PR3s for no apparent reason and have done some playing about with on page stuff to see if I can up those pages - too soon to see any change.
Some of the PR4 pages have 2 or more links from other pages - like you for good reasons, different parts of the page etc and it has had no negative effect. I would be interested to see if anyone else has had a different experience. |

What was weird before too...And I this this is def. worth mentioning. I've completely changed the way my HP works the last month. I have a java menu (invisable to search engines) and I only had 4 or 5 outgoing links from the HP. One to a sitemap. Before this update, each of those few pages linked to from the homepage enjoyed the same PR3 that the homepage had. Now I have about 20 links to all the most imporant pages of my website. I know this is a more solid model on which the page should be built. But it is still a moot point. Now instead of subpages being fed a PR3 from a PR4 Sitemap, they are just getting (most of them @ least) a PR3 straight from a PR4 home. I'd assume there is less change of volutility, but from a design standpoint, I'd like to do away with the mini-sitemap @ the bottom of my pages.
