PR update when site is down

All,
my web hosting company messes up; my site has been down for almost 4 days now. I am worried since PR update is coming (supposedly) this week. Current index PR is 5, a few days ago, it says " You are not authorized to view this page" . After much talking with the web hosting company, it shows
"Index of /" page

You cannot view the subpages. Tired of talking with the web hosting co, I have contacted them 7 times and they still don't get it right.
So here is the question: how will this affect my PR? The timing just couldn't be worse. I will switch hosting company, but it will take a week.
Will G make my index PR sky-high and other subpages PR 0 later (since G cannot spread the PR among the sub-pages)?

I feel your pain... MY site was down for 3 days this weekend, I felt like bombing the hosting company. After 500 emails, I finally got it up again.

Why will it take one week to change hosting? It takes 24 hours for the DNS to propagate, and you can do it without even pulling the plug on your current host.

IS your site still down? When you do a Google cache check, does it show a dead or error page? I once has my site down, and was lucky enough to avoid Googlebot's visit during the downtime.

Fryman, the cache looks OK. Although my index PR is 5 and GBot visits PR 5 site each day, it does not say the cache date, however.
It only takes a day to transfer a web hosting company? Hmmmm why does it always take me a week? I will start the transfer process. Hopefully like some folks here predict, the update is early next week or even at month end. So I'll be saved this time around. Thanks fryman.

MOST of the propogation takes place within 24 hours but with local caching and ISP caching and a whole host of other things mzainis is right to allow 7 days. However if your current site is down I'm with fryman, I would start the moving process ASAP. Depends who has control of the domain. If it's with your current hosting company that opens up a whole new bottle of worms if they are slow to respond.

In the UK Nominet who control .co.uk domains are usually great at reacting if an ISP or hosting company fail to repsond but in my experience .com's etc can be a real problem to move if the current tag holder doesn't assist.

Most of the DNS propagates in 24 hours. Yes, maybe a guy in Tanzania will have to wait 7 days to see the site, but the 24 hours should be enough for Google to pick up his site again.

Better start packing and get the hell out of there as soon as possible, sounds like your hosting company really sucks.

Once I keep a link to a domain by mistake and it got PR3, so even without a domainyou can get PR, I think it will no affect your index page, but to subpages.

Oh man...This exact thing happend to me in May. My site went down HARD for about 2 full days (1st and only time in 3 years). Of course G was running PR update crawls during that time and I droped from a PR5 to a PR3. It was bad! The real kick to the pants...wasn't even the homepage, it was all internal pages recieveing a 0! The result of this...I basically disapeared from G for a month. I too wanted to bomb the hosting company. I would rather be honnest with you than try to asuage your feelings...I just went through this in May...its a total bitch. I'm really sorry bro. I totally feel your pain. The only bright side would be if the update isn't coming this weekend but next. Then G would hopefully have time to re-deep-crawl you. I've noticed a bunch more deep crawls today...Not as many as earlier this week, but I've seen a few today lasting longer than 12 minutes. So HOPEFULLY, you got back up in time, and you'll be rewarded with a deep crawl. Otherwise...there will always be 5 weeks from now.
