has anyone noticed that reciprocal links mean practically nothing now?

if fact, i've also noticed that link text from a recriprocated link does very little if anything at all.

It's been low for a long time - the PR was probably inherited from the old seochat.com and hasn't recovered since then. But more important than the PR, is the traffic the site gets - and that's more than enough

what is your proof for the statement you made? I feel that my link text incoming is wht is keeping me in high serps. I got a #1 for a keyword by getting a few links with the words in the text before this last update.

if you re-read my original post you'll find i'm talking about link text from recripocated links. i don't have proof i'm just talking from experience over the past month or so.

yes i realized that you were talking about reciprocated links. almost all of my recent links have been reciprocal. People have been saying that recipricol links have no value. I want proof because for me they have still been of = value as non reciprocated ones. my proof is that I have gained a #1 position for a competitive keyword. and the only thing that I did was get 6 links with the ket\yword in the link text. Reciprocated (with relevant sites). God bless you.

i try to think like google in my approach to seo. if a reciprocal link isn't given as much value because of it's openess to exploitation why would reciprocal link text be any different? i wouldn't say reciprocal links have no value but i would say they're worth a hell of lot less than non-recriprocated links. i've found this to be the case in all my sites.

Whoi says it's not given as much value? I haven't noticed for me it's the same as any other link. People keep saying this but there is no proof.

I'm not sure that every other member will agree. anchor text especiall is important in my opinion. whether internal link, external, or reciprocated. I am not saying that you are way off base, I just think that it has a lot of importance given my results from reciprocated links. I know that you have experience I've read your posts. I still believe that links are links no matter what.

i run a fair few sites and i'm currently in the process of changing links to flow PR via 3-way linking structures rather than 2-way. It's working out well for me. This way I'm maximing the value of my links and futureproofing my seo solution. All of the above is my opinion of course :-D

to feed it through another site? Not a bad idea. So tell me then if I switched all my links to another site of mine that linked back to my site that would be fair to my link partners? and still give me the same benefits if not more?

well yeah your link partners would recieve a non-reciprocated link and so would you!

what i'd do is get all your link partners to link to your main site and then link to them from your second site. then just create a 1-way link from your main site to your second site.

that would preserve the PR on my main site? some how this seemsto me that my link partners would be getting .85 less PR than I would be getting from them. Also many of my link partners link to all of my sites. Not just one.

PR calculators don't take into account Google's dampening of reciprocal links.

If you've got many sites, try use all of them to link in triangles and somehow link them together. too hard to explain and can post a diagram after work.
