PR/BL question
Lets say that a page linking to me has a PR5 this update(his link still doesn't show up as a backlink), next update it reaches a PR7 and my link shows up as a backlink, will I receive benefit from the PR7 or the PR5 ?

You will receive whatever benefit Google internally has for that site, regardless of PR and regardless of whether it is one of the "sampled" backlinks.

Seeing a green bar on a page is a good indication that the page is indexed and cached, but you need to verify with a site: search to ensure that the toolbar is not reporting "ghost PR" or otherwise just being flaky.
Then, even if the page is indexed, you need to ensure that the link is spiderable. Some sites link out using a tracking system or CGI/php/java script which is blocked via robots.txt, using session IDs, numerous dynamic parameters, etc. which prevent spiders from following them. In these cases, the pages will be indexed, but not count as a backlink.

ummm..... you have me so lost bernard.... what are you talking about ?
I'm asking if a site has a PR5 now (my link added a week ago) and in the next update it gets a PR7 (saying my link is counted this update) will my site benefit from that PR7? that my question. I have no idea what you are talking about though... but thanks for TRYING to help . |

Essentially, he's getting more into the details of it all:
1. Make sure that the page you have a link from is actually showing up in the Google index (since you're talking PR5/PR7 I'll assume it does). 2. View the source on that page to see if the link is a straightforward link or something unspiderable; also, check the robots.txt file to make sure it doesn't try to disclude spiders. Bernard catches all the details I tend to gloss over...good work B. Cygnus |

No offense but I know these things and I've done them.
Their link still hasn't appeared in my backlinks because as I said my link was posted last week on their site. It was sort of a dumb question on my part, due to the fact that I haven't really thought it through before I asked it. I should receive PR from whatever the PR is on the page where my backlink stands on the update. So if their PR goes to 7 in the next update my PR goes up as well... correct? |

Correct. Assuming that the links on the page are spiderable (which is what I was getting at and Cygnus tried to simplify). Sorry if you took offense to my mentioning it. Usually when someone asks a question like your original one, they do not know enough to check for these things.
