PR advertising?
I hear alot of people say Google will remove you PR if you sell links in the fashion "PR7 for $XX" or whatever. Is this true?
I still see alot of Pr for linkadage.com and textlinkbrokers.com etc. I thought they would be the first to go! Can anyone confirm it?

i have not heard of this me i would never buy a link just keep asking thats what we sould all do i dont think selling links is right i mean come on its just............

I see PHPBB PR is passing and I see a lot of people using it. Lots of people still use FFA's and Guestbooks which I feel is 100% unethical.

It's not phpBB the software that got penalized, just phpbb.com the domain...

PHPBB.com will not be passing PR anytime soon. The reason they got their Pr was because they implement a backlink in every download of a popular software and under its TOS say its non removable, this violates Googles democracy rule "if there is such a thing" and thus it seems that google thought they were profiting to much from this sponsorship

Interesting note however, the sponsorships never passed PR, not even for 1 month and I know because I owned the spots for 3 months and not once backlink its like google knew we were planning on selling links before we did

Google's quietly keeping tabs on things.
About a year ago I was advertising on Foxnews.com for several months over a year ago, then google pulled their PR transfer.
Makes me stay away from very popular sites selling PR. (Being that on linkadage u don't know the URL's being sold and therefore can't check if PR has been transferring).
It's something to watch out for.

How nice to have one of my sites recognized. I am out of the closet. Yes I have a buy pagerank site. www.textlinkbrokers.com. Yes it is a throw-away domain.

Anyways its too bad to hear about PHPBB. Other then them I havent heard of any sites getting diniged lately. None of our sites have anyways.

PHPBB was a special case and there were specific reasons for them being dinged. Most of us have not seen any issues.

The last time I checked google was not able to change the results in any way. Did you hear about the big controvesy the NYT reported. There is a petition being done for a site to get banned.
I am not sure if I can say the name of the site (TOS of seochat.com). Google just cannot unlist sites from the system, the algo can give you PR penalties but not manually.

I would also be intereste din rate info for text link brokers
How did you find the service level good ?

Smile What is the site theme is same
How does google differentiate from a text link supposedly bought for the sole purpose of passing on pr and and advertising banner for example?and how do they know it was a paid link??

PHPBB might be a once off case as they say, but there are several other such software that add a link to your pages, blogging software for example..
