PR 5 - Is it worth paying for?

I come accross a site that is selling PR5 space for $500 - It's a one time fee I believe. If anything more, its per year. Is this preposterous? (I love saying that! LOL)

I believe it's too expensive, $500 maybe is fine for PR7-8

happyallday. he said it's a ONE time fee or yearly thing.
I do find it personally a bit expensive, but it all depends
on the traffic the site is receiving, remeber PR isn't everything
when buying link advertisement unless yuo're just doing it to
increase your PageRank

Geez... $500 for a PR5? That's crazy! I'll put you on my PR5 site for a year for $200

this is all assuming you want the link for PR value alone...never buy a link for a year, if that site stops passing PR after a month you're screwed. $500- divided by 12 is roughly $42- a month, for a PR 5 that's still a little pricey but could be worth it depending on how many pages the site in question has indexed in google and how close it is to your theme. i'm also assuming that this is for a link on every page, not just the index.

Yeah... 500 is really too much. And I'd have a few more links on my pages too.

$500 for a PR 5 link doesn't have to be a high price..

Does the site get much traffic, is it similar to yours, will your link be visible to the visitors, will you get any traffic from that site??

If you can say yes to the above questions, and you can get 80-100 visitors pr day from that link, I would say that it's a good price..
90*365=32850 visitors pr year , $500/32850 = 0.015 pr visitor/click...

But if it's a stuffed away link for the PR alone, you should stay far away from it...
You can get many PR 5 links for free from link exchanges and directories..

Just my opinion on the subject..

The reason you buy a pr5 link is because it's pr is 5, if the pr is 4 some day will you still pay $500 for a year?
So just considering link popularity , I believe it's expensive

Like some others said, it may not be too much.. Maybe they're promoting their site like crazy and in 2 months it'll be PR 7, then it'd be well worth it.. also it could drop to a PR 3 and be useless other then any traffic received.

also, I've seen a PR 7 selling for an affordable price, but it was becoming a linkfarm in my opinion, so i avoided it.. If you're the only link on the PR 5, that should add some value as well.

Yeah, and if they are charging $500 for a PR5, they would charge $3,000 for a PR7...

:-D

You know I have yet to pay for anything having to do with SEO. Paying for links just kind of reminds me of hiring a hooker. I know, in some instances, it makes perfect financial business sense to do so. But, don't you feel cheap in the morning?

Nah, sometimes you can get good deals... and it seeems to be the only way you can get non-reciprocal backlinks...

All good points. I've never paid for a link - This was more of a site accepting donations and they put a link on their supporters page. I highly doubt they get too much traffic anyways. For donation purposes its ok - But to pay for PR - Especially a 5, doesn't seem like a good idea.

Thumbs up Re:

It's better to do some decent link exchanges. But if you are not interested in reciprocating links, ok to buy PR5 for not more then 5-7$ per month.
