Hi shahidhasan,

Google rank pages on a scale which is believed to be 1 - 100 but those rankings are known only to Google themselves.

The Google toolbar displays Page Rank on a measure of 1-10

The correlation - as I understand it - is simply that a "real PR" of 44 will translate to a Toolbar PR of 4 whereas a "real PR" of 45 will result in a toolbar PR of 5...

It's probably explained (or speculated) somewhere in great detail (although honestly I've never bothered to research it to any great extent)!

Also - many people confuse the term "Page Rank" with Google rankings (Serps)!

Hope that helps

Only the Google conspirators know the exact foruula. The relative formula that is 95% accurate is on Wikipedia though. You should go to wikipedia and search page rank

Another thing is that the PR that is displayed on Google ToolBar is not that accurate as it is usually updated every 2 or 3 months whereas the "real PR" is updated in realtime.

Quick question: If you have a choice to have a PR of 5 and place 15th in the SERPs for the search term "blue widget" OR have a PR of 2 and place 2nd for "blue widget" on the first page of the SERPs... Which one would you like the most?

Achieve good content and relevant backinks and you will improve your SERPs. Your PR will automatically improve as you get links. Getting the right links will improve your position in the SERPs. Improvement in PR is just a nice thing to have, but does not put food on the table or money in your pocket.

Bottomline: Focus on your SERP placement and let page PR take care of itself.
