Page Rank ->Limiting Google spider in robots.txt
I have limited google's spider to my home page. Will this be detremental to page rank? Should I encourage Google to index all pages, or 2-3 for example?
Since I have limited google to my homw page, my PR has dropped to 1 from 2?! Thoughts? |

Why are you limiting the spider to your home page? Is there something in your other pages you don't want the spiders to see? Internal links can effect your PR the same as external ones can so having good internal structure is important

It seems strange that you are limiting Google to spider only your homepage.
You are missing out on the benefits of having other pages that you can use for other keyphrases that you wish to be found for. I suggest you let google spider all your site, except of course those that are not open to the general public

I was limiting the spider to the home page so as to avoid pages such as order pages which contained frames etc...
However, your advice is great advice, I will remove the limits in the spiders.txt file. Thanks, Paul |
