One for the little guys!

Hi,

Just wanted to share with you all that there appears to still be a little hope left for us 'little' guys to get good rankings at Google for very popular keywords. For the fear of 'jinxing' myself, my site and search term will remain anonymous

At any rate my site is #10 with a lowly pr 5. Here is the competition in regards to pr:

#3 pr8
#4 pr7

#6 pr7
#7 pr8

#9 pr7
#10 me pr5
#11 pr8
#12 pr6


Not sure why it is. Some of these sites are in the alexa.com top 500, most in the top 5000....mine is around 200,000! Maybe it's a miracle?

Actually I am hearing quite frequently that this has been a very nice update for the little guys. Very few have had much to complain about!

can it just a a fresh bot or a higher density for ancor text ?

The site will be one year old next month. It only has about 26 backlinks. I wish I had this success with other sites, but unfortunately it is not the case

I do have a strong anchor text. My keywords are mentioned thrice in the title.

Congrats on the rankings. I am glad someone is making headway. It seems this update PR wasn't everything for good rankings. It could also relate to how long you site has ranked up in the top positions as well. I saw a lowering of pagerank on a few sites, but not a lowering of rankings.

Pagerank is important but not everything. There are a lot of non-pagerank/backlink issues that you are likely getting right (Or your competition is getting wrong) that allow you to sneak in.

The good news, if you increase your PR and backlinks you will likely rise from #10 to a better position

Funny that you broke down the kw/PR list like that I just developed a tool that does exactly that http://www.seo-guy.com/seo-tools/google-pr.php

You type in a keyword and a pagerank threshold value and it will tell you all of the sites that have a PR of "x" which you choose within as many pages of the SERP as you like. I am just working with the API right now to get it to report the position as well

Nice tool, what is the method you are using to get the PR for each site?

My programmer just reverse engineered the checksum after taking the toolbar apart, its not terribly difficult as I understand it, but to explain it is another story cause Im not the one who did it my programmer did.
