Non Theme links
Are 1 way non themed links better then themed reciprocal links, asuming PR and all other things equal.

We have both and it seems to work well. While I agree that it makes since to give more credit to themed links, I am not convinced that it is true.

We did a test last month on this very topic. I had my search optimization company build a page about me on his SEO site and within 48hrs. he ranked on the first page for several of my keywords.

And, although he has thousands of backlinks and a PR8 site, none of his are real estate related.

An additional note: Seo chat also ranks in the top ten for Phoenix Realtor. From posts that I have made. Again, themed backlinks do not seem to be in play here.

I am not complaining though...In the top ten for Phoenix Realtor 4 out of the 10 direct people to my site

themed are alway first choice, but as long as you stick with something resembling a 'natural mix' it shouldn't matter much...there's only X amount of sites out there in your theme, and only X amount of them that will link to you so sooner or later you'll have to venture out of your theme.

so theme links are not extremely important? because I find it is easier to get a better pr from none theme sites. As long as I not link to link farms, that would be fine?

I saw a site yesterday that is getting 200 bl from a non theme source and has a pr6 and is ranking well for their keywords. non theme 1 way links are good . forgot to mention the source is a pr 6.

I didnt check their competing sites, i would imagine most are heavily themed, it is real estate sites.

It's speculation - albeit sensible speculation as at some stage in the future Google are likely to start weighting the algorithm in favour of themed links. I suspect the biggest block to them doing so is computational power.

The days of no credit for non-themed links will be an interesting time. And a lot of BIG time adjustments in the results. This will eliminate those people selling PR to any site. BEcause a commercial site selling Live Seafood has no business linking to a vegetarian site promoting the well being of lobsters.

I believe it's very hard to define theme links, for example, if you sell shoes, will leather link do some good to you? how about sheeps link, how about clothes link, you can not say they are not totally unrelated
