Newbie requires help
Hi,
We have launched a sports website xxxhttp://www.cricbuzz.com. We are extremely new to the world of Google optimization. Our site currently has a page rank of 2/10. We havent taken any proactive steps to increase its page rank. However we would like to start somewhere. We would be really grateful if you can point us to certain basic steps for Google optimization and some kind of starter document. Pls do have a look the site and if you can point out some problems related to Google optimization, just by looking at the site, pls do let us know. Sincerely. Hi, I think the current consensus is that in order to increase visibility in search engines, you need text links from high PR sites with your key word in it, linking to you. So, in your case, i guess a possibility would be 'cricket forum', or something of that nature. Look for sites that are willing to give you backlinks for free, or purchase them from people. As for site optimization, I believe that for google, it has very little affect on rankings. But of course, h1 tags are a must, and a good title too.
my 2 cents. |

The most important thing that you can do is to get a basic understanding of SEO. There is no easy route other than to spend LOTS time studying on your own.
Start here with donna's guide to newbies http://forums.seochat.com/t8704/s.html&highlight=1000th You will get the most from a site review if you build as much as you can into a page on your own and then ask for ideas from others. YOU are the one who best understands your site and the people who you hope will visit and the search terms that you want to target. As for PR... getting inbound links from other sites is the only effecive way.
