newbie question

hello...

i am new to SEO and i am all over the place :

i would like to know more about the following please:

- page rank. is this the pecking order in, let's say the first page of google, where the actual (index page) site is listed or the page number of google/search engine where the site is listed regardless of order?

- index page page rank as against the links page rank where a url is linked... how does this affect the overall page rank of the site (assuming the backlink site has a PR5)?

- is there a way or tool that will let me know if my microsite has been fresh crawled or deep crawled? or, do i have to wait till the next dance to know? if there is, i would rather use the month gap to rebuild or optimize rather than wait unsure without doing anything.

can someone suggest which url topic to go to? i apologize, i know this has been asked a thousand times.

thank you.

gerardo

Welcome,

Pagerank Explained Correctly with Examples at http://www.iprcom.com/papers/pagerank/ and of course Google Technology at http://www.google.com/technology/

Basicly PageRank is a weighted vote counting system.

Cheers,
