link score

How Google counts 2 links from the same site, but from different pages to mysite?

xyz.com --> mysite.com
xyz.com/rst.html --> mysite.com

a) every link scores
b) only one link scores

Every link scores - it has to as per their PageRank formula. 2 links on the same page though i debateable, but 2 different pages and both links should count. Perhaps though the first link counts with full effect and subsequent links are only counted with half the effect or something like that, but I don't think so.

Darrin: is PR linear or logarithmically?

It is exponential .. or appears to be .. with a base of around 4.

Yup..

So if there were 100 links to a page and a PR5, it would take 400 for PR6, given that all links have an equal PR -- Or you could get a PR6 from just one link from a PR6/7 website

oooookay thank you Darrin. The only thing I need now is a link-partner with a PR7-Site and with one outgoing link. :-)

Using that PR

Ok, I am going to pipe in here, just for the fact that I have been able to acheive some of the above people are talking about. I have found some good ways to do such things as achieving a way higher PR that just might work.
Since people are relatively new to the PR rating. Most people don't even know it exists or know how to maximize its potential. PR in my opinion is just one way of working a good angle for a eventual successful site.

On your next hunt in the jungle for link partners. I would reccommend (as many of your know) sites that have quite awesome PR levels, such as 5,6,7. --> Yet, don't go to big sites, some of the best sites with PR 6 and PR 7 are small little sites in the corner of some server somewhere waiting for someone to send them an email. Now this will take some researching and your time, but its worth it in the long run.

If you have the Google Toolbar, use it your advantage. When looking if the site you target is below PR6, if that is your criteria, then click you see the PR is too low, bamm you move on to your next site. That simple.

Also, I love the cascading of PR. It will and might effect the origin site PR for your links but look at it this way. I know several people who NOW go about buying websites with certain PR levels. Reason why --> post a link on that site, any page you link to will have instant success on Google, for the keyword of your choice, with in certain competition levels of course. Just some observations of mine.
If I am off in any of my thinking above let me know. Helpful criticism is great.

I have been exchanging links with sites of the same interest as my own, but I installed the google tool bar and I had to remove it.

It was crashing my browser like crazy!

I have the most current version of IE 6
running windows 2000 pro with the most
current updates and service pack.

I tend to use many open windows, I am always doing so many things at one time

Im not sure if this was causing the crashes, but I just couldn't deal with it any more. I made sure I filled out the information of why I uninstalled it at the google site, this way maybe they can fix it some day.

anybody else have this problem???

HELLO EVERYONE,NICE FORUM
maybe low system resources
Something that will really help the freezing is,go to start and then run and type in msconfig and click on startup and clean all the junk out of your startup,that is the only way to get it out of your startup,deleting from the task bar won't work.My system resources stay around 98 to 93 %,alot of people don't realize that when they download stuff alot of times it throws it in the startup, even if you don't see it in the task bar,and then it might be years before someone comes alongs and tells them how to clean it out.

There computer might be running about 30 to 40 % without even doing anything on there computer or the net.This is for people who do not know this ,im sure some of you on here know this ,but for those who don't.Just make sure to only uncheck the things you know you have downloaded, most of the things will be from c/programfiles,don't uncheck stuff that makes your computer run
I hope this helps especialy if your on dialup,thats when i would have to reboot 10 times a day sometimes

ps. to check your system resources right click on my computer go to properties and then click on performance

ctn,

definately not resources, besides this is windows 2000, no msconfig
and the performance is fine, this is found by right clicking the task bar and selecting task manager. Im not sure if your familiar with win2k, but its a bit different than win98 and below. Its truly a stable os, I never ever have resource problems with it. Also, when I built this system, I made sure I got top of the line guts and plenty of power I use graphic programs, movie editors and music editing software so it was a big issue for me to have all the power

I always use multiple windows, but only since the google tool bar was installed was I getting IE crashes. Since it has been out all is fine

I guess im going to have to live without it, or insall again for when I need to see my pr

thanks for answering
