Has anyone else noticed their link exchange page going down to a PR 0?

a client who insisted in having a anchor ref to his exchange page called "click here for more links" despite being told otherwise has had both his links pages go PRO in the last couple of weeks

I have noticed the same Gail, aso with a lot of my linking partners. I have updated my site with new pages / content, those pages have been indexed with a PR 0.
Not sure whats up. |

Don't jump to conclusions. PR displays have been generally erratic and unreliable for some time. I also have links/resources pages which have PR0 for no good reason.
I'm not worrying until the whole G index becomes stable again. Fred

Domainsnow4u - I disagree.
I have SEVERAL web sites with each having SEVERAL link pages - I see a pattern. The ones that now have a PR0 are basic link pages. The ones that still have PR4 and PR5's are pages that have "extra text". So anyone who has a link page with a pr0. Add extra text - maybe the text should decribe the web site in general. I think that is the change in the new algorithm. (I hope GG is not reading this - you know how G God hates it when we figure out the algorithm - they just change it!) Even better, I am creating a system that will automately create and do the link exchanges with this "extra text" in mind. PM me (in a week) if you want more info. It's great for people who have more than one web site. (Saves lots of time.) |

I think inbound and outbound link ratio has a factor as well. Most "link" pages have a lot more links going out (both internal and external) than links coming in.

I think Google is now trying to exclude reciprocal links in their PR calculation formulation.
It is nothing to worry about this problem. What I would suggest is that exchange links with relevant website. If Google doesn't count, your visitors count. Hope you understand what I mean here... |

Right said Fred... and Gail
I checked out a couple of websites from some friends and I saw the same thing with their pages going down to PR0.
I'd also bet this is related to some unstability with the PageRank systems. Cheers Matt http://www.wagerlover.com http://www.casinoonnet.com.ar |

Gail, the fact is that re-indexing at G is still continuing. From day to day, and sometimes from hour to hour, there are continual: > changes in www. > differences between www and www2/www3. > Occasional differences between www2 and www3. > Continual fluctuations at the 9 datacenters. > Unreliable PR readings. > Obvious spam sites suddenly appear from nowhere at or near the top of searches, then disappear again. Until this situation stabilizes, I believe it is unwise to draw any conclusions as to eventual algo changes or anything else. Fred |

What I have noted is that a link from a Google SERP may often show no PageRank on the new Google toolbar. Click within that page and the sub pages will have PageRank shown at historical levels. Now click back to the Home Page (i.e. the page you came from). Suddenly the Home Page now has a PageRank at the historical level.
Going directly to a URL, I find that occasionally going to URL will show me a page with PageRank not shown. Go instead to ttp://www.domain.com/index.htm, which is the identical page, and this will have a PageRank shown. Does anyone understand any of this? Barry Welford |

Yes, that is happening on some of my sites. I thought I was going crazy!
domainsnow4u - maybe I'm jumping the gun (re: the new algo) but I bet you a chocolate bar that I'm right. |

That is because http://www.domain.com and http://www.domain.com/index.htm are two different URLs. Link to your homepage the wrong way and you maybe leaking PR. I did notice, too, that there are more PR 0 pages around, but cant follow the pattern yet. I am talking about PR0 whitebar (!), but it doesnt seem a manual ban to me. |
