I was wondering if joining forums and posting, a productive way to improve your pagerank?

Thanks

It has been discussed many times before. Don't waste you time. Posting at forums, gets books, and similar places won't help you with PR. Since tha last update Google seems to have killed the value of forum links.

I have found it to be a way to get clients and share thoughts. Helps so so with backlinks. But as soon as everysite has a forum I'm sure google will modify the algo to counter it.

Think about it, we are obviously trying to change the SERP's by adding all these forums in reply to the power of backlinks.

Hence my theroy on multiple domains and IP's this would help weed out the SEO spam big time.

Fryman is right, links from common oprums carry no value, they dosn't even guaranty a very deep crawl anymore.

I would say join forums if you like them and you think you can add to that community. Signature links are just a bonus to me.

Yup. If you read the faq you will see that you need 100 posts AND you need to be a member for 90 days before you are allowed to have a signature.
