Is Page Rank Dead?

There was a time when PR was king. It still exists. I know because it shows up on the toolbar.

I know I consider it important, but only because I believe google thinks its important. Now I am questioning whether they make use of it, or just keep it out there to make SEO difficult.

I dont mean that in a negative way. Its important that SEO be difficult, otherwise people like me would corrupt the serps so badly as to render search engines valueless.

What do you think?

I mean what do you think about PR? is it dead, and if so, by how much?

In my opinion, i think that PR is just as important as it was before. But, I think that many people misunderstand its significance.

Many people think that PR is the know all, end all-> the higher the PR, the higher your SERPs. While this is partially true, I think that its values are seen, more specifically, when it comes to backlinks.
It's hard to explain, but I will try to clarify. I'm trying to say that PR doesn't automatically determine how well you rank. Just because you have a PR8 doesn't mean you will rank higher than a PR7. However, I believe that when a high PR textlink with your keyword on it is linked to you, the effect on the ranking of that particular keyword will perform very well. So it doesn't answer the question "Why am I only on the 2nd page of G*", but PR answers the question "What types of textlinks do I need to be on the first page?"

PR dead? Far from it.

The PR of your site does not determine your search engine rankings; it's the text link's value from high PR pages that do. (which naturally will affect your PR too)

dont assume it that PR is dead, always remember it that its playing important role in keword ranking.

Give me any website with 6 ot 7 Pa then i can show you importance of PR.
