More links.

But, PR is just an indicator of relative levels of link juice. Unless you plan on using PR for link selling, your time would be much better spent on working on improving your search results position. SERPs and PR are not the same thing.

There are no strategies. Simply get a backlink from a higher PR website than yours (say PR6 or PR7) and make sure there are no rel="nofollow" in the link and that there aren't too many outgoing links from that page.

Other than that people above are correct in advising to focus on results rather than PR alone.

PR is not the only criteria..How you optimized your page is also important..
Google rankings are updated before PR...You may get ranking improvement before your PR...

Page Rank is not that important anymore. What important now is SERP so you better focus on it rather in PR

As they said. links will be the factor if you really care PR. On the other hand, though PR is useless or just a decoration scale, but for some PR is money.

If you want to get traffic then you have to focus on SERPs, but if you want to sell link then you have focus on PR. So, get back links from high PR websites and always conscious for no follow attribute.

The best strategies are perfect combination of traffic and link popularity. Try to have a great and useful website that offers great and reliable information, that will increase your traffic caused by your buzz then you will earn many natural links that could increase your page rank.

It is a sad world with many links (possibly high page rank) but no user traffic.

Try to get as many inbound links you can get, from any kind of site. Those sites may be relevant or irrelevant, doesn't matter.

But one thing I would like to mention:
In the month of November in searchengineland.com an articles was published. The topic was - "10 Useless SEO Worries" and one them was Obsessing over PageRank .

increasing PR takes time. It has its own date of updating. Its not real time...If you want to have it increased for this coming PR update, gather up quality related links as they say...Don't just focus on PR building, its worthless as they all say...focus more on improving your SERP and number of traffic which is far more important than PR.
