Incoming links to dynamic pages affecting PR
I have a site where many other sites link not to the main page, but to our search script: /cgi-bin/search.cgi but typically with some kind of parameters
/cgi-bin/search.cgi?Terms=blah+blah+more+search+terms How do these types of incoming links affect my PR? As each incoming link is going to be different. But sent to the same page technically, just with different parameters. |

Each inbound link adds PR power to the page that it hits. Some of that power is also spread through your site, mainly to the pages that are linked to by the target page, but a small amount is passed on from them into the rest of your site.
If I understand you correctly, your inbounds hit a script and not a static page. I am guessing that since there is no page on your site to gain power from those inbound links that there will not be much of a benefit to the PR of your site. This is just my logic here - does anyone understand this better? |

Well, I do have many static pages on the site. And the script pages link to some these pages. So you're saying that even though it's the script that's linked. The PR will spread to the rest of the site right?

Yah, took a look at Google results. Looks like that is how it works. Unfortunately, my script page was pointing to only one of my static areas. So now Google results don't show my main site, but that one area! So I've added a link to the website root from the script page. That should hopefully fix my Google results on the next update.

My reply was in the context of a script generating a dynamic page.
I make my sites plain vanilla so that I know what happens. |
