I still have no page rank !!

Hi there,

i have been running my site for over a year and never had a page rank .. i must be doing something wrong .. can anyone help.

my site has a links page which have about ten links or more and many of them are linked back to me in there links page .. i had a quick look at the backward links thing on the tool bar and it reads nothing..

would it help if i gave you may website address..

please point me in the right direction

The only wrong thing you must be doing is falling short of backlinks.

Yup, write your site's URL in a non search engine readable format. Separated with dots .....or whatever you like.

My site is highland .. dancing .. competitions.c.o.m. ( all one word)

i double checked my links and i only have 2 links which come back to me from my links page. i over estimated !!

If i am right, you have just about 40 backlinks when i checked through yahoo which is obviously more accurate than Google. Not enough obviously.....

how many backlinks do i need to get a ranking

no one can give you exact idea get back links from high and relevant website.

Its not a question of how many backlinks you need, the question is how many backlinks you can get?

Just for note, any backlink will help you in gaining PR (except the no-followed) but only relevant links will take you higher in the ranks.

i take it back links are links which my page links to and then on the site i link to they link back.

is it ok for me to still list links on my links page or should i add some links on my front page aswell.

also do links that don't link back to me still benificial. (spelling not sure)

Just to clear up things.....

Inlinks or inbound links are your site links on someone else's web page. Ok?

I dont really love the idea of giving too many outward links from my important pages.....though your choice....rather as per the requirement......

i am a little confused as i have just started to look into this...

could you perhaps give me a starting point to help increase my page ranking.

eg.. do i just need to get more links from related sites to link to me

Read the thread which is in my signature link in this thread's first post( the third one, which says "worried about PR").....

ok i have read it and basicaly i shouldn't worry to much about it..

i will just try and increase my links and content.

1. Double check your site against Google webmaster guidelines such as their quality guidelines. Your site might have spam.

2. See if your site is index, if not you are banned.

3. All of your links are reciprocal, focus more on content development, think of your visitors then try to get more organic links than reciprocal link exchange.

4. Check the site you are linking out. make sure they are not classified as "web rings" spammers or bad neighbors. If they are, cut it out and get more links to high quality related sites only.

5. Remember you should not work to get links to get PR, but work on developing content to get links then get PR.

6. You cannot get substantial increase in PR if the page rank of the inbound linking page is zero.

u said yahoo is accurate then google . but website PR google is provide .if we optimize our website according to google .if we check backlink in yahoo is not important if we talk about Page rank of google......
