Question I'm Number 1...I'm Number 1...

Okay...I'm new to this, so be kind. I recently (12 days ago) put up my site & I'm pr1 if you search for "hustler panties", pr21 if you search for "hustler lingerie", etc. I'm showing that Google is only recognizing 1 page of my website (through Digital Point's Backlink Tracker thingy). Does that mean that I am getting those pr's from just my index page? Is there something I can do to get Google to recognize my other pages, or do I have to wait (I hate that....)?

"Hey Zoolander, you better listen to your friend Billy Zane..."

Any who, yes I understand that it is not the most competitive keyphrase, but nonetheless, that wasn't my question... ;)

Will Google start picking up on my other pages, & therefore, my other keyphrases?

or did you think id be too stupid to know what a 'eugoogoly' was?"

at the moment....only the index page is indexed by google.
this is pretty typical for a new site.
google will be back for more.
it appears that all references to your site direct people to this index page:
http://www.google.com/search?num=10...G=Google+Search

the other pages would get indexed sooner perhaps if they had distinct links to them. but this really isnt necessary. yes....its about the waiting.

But, I am so impatient! Can some one just call Google & let them know I'm waiting...

Thanks for the info relaxzoolander, I'll see you at the walkoff...

Hello Summer,

Congrats with your ranching success. I hope you will rank high for other and more traffic bringing keywords.

We normaly use PR (PageRank) to refer to a specificpart of Googles ranking algoritm, where websites with more quality incoming links than another site has a higher PR.

Read more about PR here:

Thanks for correcting me, Requiem! That article was very informative. I'm bummed that there is not a toolbar for mac users, do you know if there will ever be one available? I'm definately a learn-by-doing person...

Cheers,

I know it's a bit ancient... but still, it wouldn't hurt to include some meta data in your site. Some crawlers and spiders still use the meta tags.

I am not aware of a mac toolbar, I only work on a mac once in a blue moon :-)

There are however some online tools that estimate your pagerank, I think you could find this post interesting:

http://forums.seochat.com/t7978/s.html

When it comes to meta data many developers inlcude meta description and meta keyword. Some belives that meta keyword carry no weight, but it doesn't hurt you site to include them (I haven't done so in years).

You will find a ok tutorial at this URL:
http://www.spider-food.net/meta-tags.html

The best of luck.

Don't worry, all suggestions are needed! Meta tags are on my "to-do" list...I'm just procrastinating since Google is currently only recognizing my index page...You know, I don't want to go STRAIGHT to number 1, that would just take all the excitment out of it (I'm kidding!)!

Or, you could just get a link from digitalpoint.com to move you up the ranks (oh wait, I already gave that to you).

Post

in my opinion...
a link from diggitypoint.com is a fine short term solution to simple pagerank. but from what we are seeing and surmising lately about the categorical importance of links...this link may do more harm than good in the long haul.

"oh...the files are IN the computer."
