I found this extremely odd.
I found this website on MSN that is linked from a PR9 page. The page itself is also a PR9 yet when I look at there backlinks (It only has 20) the MSN page doesn't appear in those backlinks.
Then on that page (PR9) it has a few links to within its own site and those links don't seem to be benefiting from the PR(1 link has a PR4 the other a PR6). Is it possible that this site isn't passing PR if the site giving it the high PR doesn't show up in its backlinks?

Without seeing the actual pages in question, it's kind of like asking if the Queen of England has a mole on her rump. Don't know. Haven't looked at her rump.

But I'm giving ALL the details.
Site A = MSN (PR9) : Site B/Page B = Linked page from MSN let's call it. CIA (PR9) : Page C = Link on CIA page (PR4) MSN put a link from one of their pages a PR9 going to the CIA page. The CIA page has a PR9, but when you check its backlinks MSN doesn't appear anywhere. It only has 20 backlinks and none of them consist of a PR higher than 7. (This is the first thing I find odd.) The CIA page being a PR9 links to a few internal pages one of them being "Page C". One would think that Page C would have a PR of at least 7, but in fact it only has a PR of 4, same goes for the other internal links. Yet when looking up BLs for Page C, Page B does appear as one of it's backlinks, but why only a PR4? I'm guessing that this page isn't passing PR. Anyone else have any GUESSES/HYPOTHESIS' regarding this? or has anyone seen or had a similar situation ? |

Posting the link would really help us determine if/how they are not passing PR. You aren't really giving all the factors needed to determine this. For example, you can look at the source code of the page. You can check the site's robots.txt file.
There are plenty of ways not to pass Pagerank. Do you already understand most of the well known ones like javascript links etc... or are you a newbie? |

His links don't use javascript. He doesn't have any meta tags that disallow the bot to follow links. nor nothing of that sort in his robots.txt |

How new is the link from MSN? Perhaps it'll appear in Site B's backlinks in time.

It has to be somewhat old due to the fact that Site B has a PR9. That it couldn't have received from anywheres else except that MSN page. As I said no other page in its BLs pass a PR7 and there's only 20 BLs. SO no force at all to push it to a PR9.
