Higher rank more Search engine traffic?

Hi

Right now I get about 2000 hits a day from Google and my page rank is 0, if I buy links to increase it to a page rank 1 or 2 how much more search engine traffic can I expect?

Thank You

incdeveloper disagrees: you should search first on the forum before opening a thread...

The pagerank has no direct influence on the traffic that google gives you. Pagerank is not a traffic maker machine, google cant just give you more traffic just because you have a high pagerank, it just doesn't work that way... sorry but i need to say it again..... it just doesn't work that way...

Also there is this magic box on top rigth called SEARCH.... you can use that once in a while!!!!

from what I read, a page that has a higher page rank comes above a page with less page rank which means more people will click it?

so if there are 2 sites about flowers which have similar content, and keywords the one with a higher page rank comes on top of the other one. Does it not?

If not, what is the point of page rank?

PR is a measure of how many pages/sites link to any given page. This is without any consideration whether the page has any relevance to the keyword/subject being searched for. Google awards PR based only on the amount of link juice a page receives regardless of the subject.

Bottomline: Google awards SERP placement (where you are on a search result page) based upon the relevance of the page to the keyword or phrase a searcher used. That is why it is very normal for a lower PR page to place higher in the SERPs than a higher PR page that is not as relevant to the search term used.

i find that strange to belive SEO_AM i am probably very very wrong but i have only just started to look at PR so please correct me, but here goes!

3 websites sell the same thing, ours one of them, 2 others competitors.

our page rank 0 links in about 250 ish and rising( 3 month old site)
competitror 1, page rank 4 links in 350 ish 3-4 year old site
competitor 2, page rank 1 links in 14 ish 6 year old site

can some one please explain that? its driving me nuts every where i check it says our site has good optimisation better then theres i know website graders dont mean too much but it must give a little indication maybe? they rank 1 and 2 we rank page 3-4!

very confused with your post and PR in general

It is very... very... very... easy... They have more relevant links. Number of links are good BUT useless if they are not relevant. We have a lot of .edu links... our competitors have many... many... more links, but NO .edu links. Guess who is #1.

Bottomline: Go for link relevance... Link relevance is driven by GOOD content. It all emanates from content.

Wink

yeah i can understand that no problem but they do not have the type of links you mentioned, nothing any different from ours. the one with 14 links are just to be honest crap links,
the other site looks like they have bought some seo package/link building from the company that created their site again nothing too special. the site with the 14 links ranks so well for many terms and keywords. the page content to description and also title to content very good but the content is what i would say is probably a bit better then average!
could it be the domain ages but i keep reading this is old and means nothing now?

chrisby

by the way how do you get those edu anf gov links
