Grayed out page rank box
Does a grayed out page rank box with PR0 mean that the site has been barred?

If the bar has always been grey, then the site has probably never been found(indexed) by Google, but if it used to have a PR, and is now grey, then it probably has been banned.

It is a brand new site which has just been spidered and added to the index. I've just started getting hits for keywords through Google but the PR is grayed out. Which confused me. If they were going to bar me you would have thought they would do it straight away. But if they've put me in their index why is the PR 0?!

i've seen this on one of my sites
no worries watchman,
i'd put money on your PR showing up during the next updates. me thinks google just gets a bit caught up in things and doesn't always update everything properly (at least on the surface). i've had new sites show up in the index (and well) but with a greyed out PR on the initial showing. then, after the next dance, here comes the PR rating. no new links or any major changes to the site. wait until the end of this month's dance and judge then. if you remember, let me know how is goes for you. |

home page greyed out PR
One of the sites that we optimized has the home page greyed out, yet all of the interiors have pageranks of 6/10 or 7/10. It has been this way since the site was launched. I requested Google to look at it, and the PageRank appeared on the home page a few weeks later. But, post Google dance that month, it changed back to greyed out.
Any ideas? Thanks J-Net |

Some ideas
a) do you have a "back to home" link on each page?
b) do you use some kind of frames? c) do you know how runs your server exactly with dinamically generated index pages (index.php, index.cfm...) d) do you know how to setup a link to www.theallineed.com? Well... do it.

What's the need for this link? I saw a PR5 in Google for this page... and how can an outbound link can help our coleague ? If you really want to be helpful, stop advertising your own site on this forum. Best regards, Robert |

watchman, try to get some inbounds links to your site, maybe try to register it into dmoz.org and other directories on the web.
The PR should come back after the next Google dance. |

greyed out page rank
The site is not in frames, the pages are not dynamically generated, there is a link to home on the every page of the site, and the chances of me putting a link to your site up is pretty small, in fact, nonexistent. 8)
I was hoping that someone here may have had experience with this particular problem. The greyed out PR is most definitely affecting positioning; and yet I can see that googlebot is not having difficulty getting to the interiors. The interiors are starting to rank fairly well, but not the home page. J-Net |

where are the inbound links pointing, to your home page or to these "inside" pages? if they aren't pointing to the homepage that's the reason that it doesn't have the same pagerank to find out who's linking to those sites do a query in google, it is "link: www.yourpage.com" it comes back with the pages linking to your site, to modify this further, just add on the page that is on the inside, ie. "link: www.yourpage.com/page2" and see who is linking to that inside page... hope you find your answer 8)

It has never been submitted to Google therefore Google must have found it via an inbound link which in turn means it should have a page rank since I have only put links on quality sites. Quote:
That's the thing. It was never there. This is a brand new site which has been indexed but is grayed out. I could understand if it was just PR0 and white. |
