3 guesses...
it's a new site...you don't have many/any links from other sites pointing towards yours with your keywords used in the anchor text...and also because you have very little content overall. |

Create your resources page to be more for the user than the search engine and you won't have any problems. I run a payday loan site, so naturally links to other financial companies might be of interest to my visitors -- and since the people I link to are doing the same for me, it works out.
As for how to get links to your site, you have to work for them. Go to DMOZ.org, find categories that you feel would be relevant for your visitors, and start start contacting every webmaster for the sites listed...eventually you'll find that people will seek you out, but you have to hit that critical mass first. To have a higher success rate for links... Add the link of the other site on a page of your site and then email the webmaster.
Usually it's harder to refuse a link if it's already listed. |

Joc -
While that's true, I sometimes get SOOO many "I added your link, now add mine" e-mails, that I sometimes just trash them...especially if the site is poorly designed. Thusly so, I'll have to amend my recommendation -- make sure the site design is stable & professional before soliciting the majority of your links; no need to give off a bad impression. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to get a little bit of PR from some other sources before asking for reciprocals...I tend to shy away from the PR0 folk. Cygnus |

True... but I like to have the page and link to look at from the start.
Obviously if your site looks like trash, you better fix it 1st. Like someone's sig said... You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. |

Fair enough...I guess most webmasters and site owners are just nicer people than myself, the SEO curmudgeon.

Cygnus - I wont reciprocate sites that are not obviously useful, and have a PR2+.
I am a big fan of quality over quantity, I use the PR from the google bar more to establish the effort that was put into the site then to help my own PR. Im thinking of implimenting an affiliate system where % is partially based on PR / SERP of the site you display my link on. Kinda like TV ratings and sweeps. |
