Google page rank decreased

Hi there,

thr are lots of threads regarding the google page rank, but unfortunately, could not get through the solution to my problem.

I have a domain registered on Apr-2004 with average 5000 visitors (70% new visits daily). Have done sufficient on, off page optimization. The PR had gone to 4 last month.

But I found for some reason, it came down to 3 again. Not sure why, because I havnt done anything significant change to make it happen like this.

During this period, my backlinks too got increased from 25 to 40 and all genuine. (no link farming etc)

Can anyone help me with this.

Cheers
Mike

Unpredicatable Google. Your new backlinks may be one of the reason for that.

Page rank doesn't depend on backlinks only, it depends on page rank of those backlinks. If you want to increase your page rank you need to develop high pr links.

Thanks for your suggestions.

But I have already followed some norms like,
I have exchanged links with PR>4
OR which are relevant to my domain only.

Also, it's not only me, but competitor's back links also increased during same period keeping it's PR intact

Any one has experienced this?... I really need some reason behind it... I went 1 step back...

Ok, I just check your backlinks in google, 32 backlinks and no one has pr4, all of them are none, 1, 2 and few pr3.

Also, your home page link juice are going to 110 different pages ( 92 internal links and 18 external).

So, I feel it is the reasion, BUT I would like to see others(experts) opinions.

hey.. thanks ishu for spending time on it.
less PR links are from niche websites. so i prefered having those there.

and those were there since PR1...
